Letters to Santa - Day 1

By Kostas:

Letters to Santa are something every kid has done at some point in their childhood (yes I know that's a blatantly wrong generalization and there's supposedly kids that don't celebrate Christmas, but if they don't believe in Santa, then I don't believe in them so I guess they don't exist either). Another tradition that my local paper has, and I assume many other newspapers...is to publish these letters in the weeks before Christmas for whatever reason.
I've gotten way smarter since the days when I wrote to Santa myself so it maybe be unfair to judge these letters by my standards, but I'll let you decide. The newspaper published them exactly as the kids wrote them, errors in spelling and all, so I'll post them here the same way. Join me on a random sampling and my subsequent commentary. And yes I know this makes me a huge asshole so save it.

Dear Santa,
I've been a good boy this year. Can I please have a train for Christmas and some red hotweel cars and a ups truck. I'll leave you milk and cookies. Love you, Ethan (4)

This one wasn't actually that bad, for a four year old this kid had the basics down, plead his case for the naughty/nice list, kept it simple and stuck to the standard milk and cookies payoff. Now either I'm missing something on popular children's toys or this kid wants a toy brown UPS truck...do they actually make those? Also I first assumed the "love you, Ethan" was a generic letter ender with kids that age unaware of alternative ways to close, but the love thing became all too frequent and downright disturbing, as you'll see.

Hi Santa,
How are all the Reindeer? I've been a good boy most of the time. How are you? May I please have Anakin Skywalker, Milanian Falcon and Chubaka for Christmas. Thank You, Love Liam
PS I'll leave 9 carrots and 1 cookie for the reindeer and you!!

Is it just me or does this kid seem more of a fan of the reindeer than Santa? And how are you supposed to split 9 carrots and 1 cookie 10 ways and ensure everyone gets an equal portion, better be a damned big cookie. Also this kid misses the point of gifts. First of all, you can't mix and match classic star wars movies with the new crap, secondly, does he want the actual people? does he have any idea how hard it is to keep a pet wookie? Does he have a garage big enough for the Millennium Falcon? Does he know how much all that would cost? Who does he think Santa is?

Whoops!

Whoops! Looks like I've been negligent about posting. Hell, I even forgot to mention the Sociopath Daily's 2-year anniversary... December 14. My bad.

It's not you, though. Honest, baby. It's me. I've been busy living my life and hating the economy. If I only stopped having a life and embraced janitorial vacancies things might have turned out different.

Here's a random image, because I feel negligent:
